James Bond Island
the bay of a thousand rocks

Limestone towers rising straight out of the water, as far as you can see. Phang Nga Bay looks like nowhere else in Thailand, and photographs never convey the scale.

What the day looks like

Phang Nga Bay lies north-east of Phuket, between the island and the mainland. Hundreds of karst towers rise from shallow, sheltered water. The best known, Ko Tapu, stands just off Khao Phing Kan — the island everyone calls James Bond Island since the 1974 film. The day combines cruising among the rocks, kayaking in the caves and swimming stops.
